Certified yoga & martial arts master

Kǒng Càn, the pen name of Amirreza Mehrnia, is an author, master, and seeker whose life took a transformative turn at the age of 18 when he left his family to pursue studies abroad. This departure marked the beginning of a remarkable journey, as he immersed himself in a mosaic of cultures spanning the Western and Eastern hemispheres. From bustling cities to tranquil villages, he met countless individuals—each encounter weaving a rich tapestry of perspectives, religions, and traditions into his worldview. These experiences ignited a profound curiosity, driving him toward a lifelong quest for self-realization and a deeper understanding of the universe and all its belongings. He has delved deep into the core teachings that unite all paths, embracing the belief that “perfection isn’t real, we are constantly reborn in each passing moment.” Encouraged by a friend from his martial arts school, Kǒng Càn turned to writing to reach a wider audience. His work emphasizes a universal truth: regardless of religion or belief system, all paths share a mutual understanding of the universe. Although Kǒng Càn always felt different as a child and held his own opinions and understanding from the age of 5, no one took him seriously due to his youth. This led to suffering and frustration, often marked by anger, yet he continued observing those around him. Watching his mother, who blended kindness and helpfulness with loving discipline, provided him with early insights into life and began shaping his evolving perspective of the world.

His life has been profoundly shaped by many individuals and books, but three people, to whom he is immensely grateful, have had a particularly significant impact on who he is today. First, as he mentioned, is his mother, Soheila Bagheriamjad, a remarkable woman who has been a guiding force since his childhood. Her boundless compassion, love, and sacrifices have opened his eyes to diverse perspectives and given him a deeper understanding of the world. Second, his dear friend Gerhard Senf, who, during his teenage years, taught him how to face life’s challenges with courage and determination. And finally, Shifu Guo Xinmin, his master and mentor at the Shaolin School in adulthood. He not only trained him in martial arts with dignity and resilience but also revealed the true philosophy behind it—teaching him how to apply its principles to everyday life. And he is always thankful to Coach Emil, a disciple of Shifu Guo Xinmin, for helping him better understand his master’s teachings and for guiding him deeper into the principles of discipline in martial arts.

Although Kǒng Càn (Amirreza Mehrnia) has been shaped by numerous books, great historical masters, and friends, he deliberately avoids naming specific works or figures—especially those tied to particular religions or belief systems. His reason is simple: he doesn’t want to mislead readers or students into thinking that following a single book, master, or path will automatically lead to contentment or happiness. Instead, he believes each person must invest time to explore and discover which path suits them best, recognizing that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all route to fulfillment. True understanding, he insists, comes from this personal journey, not from clinging to any one source.
